The Jewels of Christ School in located in the Santo Domingo barrio of Hainamosa, Dominican Republic. There is a Pre-school and K-12 general curriculum and it is a Christian School so the principles of the Holy Bible are taught in the classroom as well. The School and New Song Church are non-denomnational but I think it would be safe to say along doctrinal lines the blend is somewhere between Baptists and Presbyterian.
The school was opened in 1994 and has experienced significant growth over the years. The school is now in a large nearly completed facility and the board of GEMA USA is working with the staff and administation and the Board of GEMA DR on improving the facility even more. Expected enrollment in fall of 2009 is 350 students.
Students in the Dominican Republic all wear uniforms and daily say the Pledge of Alleigence to the DR and sing the Dominican National Anthem at flag raising, again every single day. It is known in the community that the education received here is better than the public school system in Hainamosa. |
